More Gas Price Increases On The Way, ¢77 This Time

Get ready for another round of gasoline price increases, as the Autoridad Reguladora de los Servicios Públicos (Aresep) is reviewing the latest request by the state refinery, the Refinadora Costarricense de Petroleo (RECOPE).

The submission was made on Friday, one day before the latest round of price hikes that took effect on Saturday, asking for a an increase of ¢74 colones for a litre of super, ¢77 for regular and ¢53 for diesel.

On Saturday the price of gasoline went up ¢40 for super, ¢37 for regular and ¢46 for diesel, pushing the price to ¢492 for a litre of super, ¢472 for regular and ¢400 for diesel.

When, not if, the request is approved the price for a litre of super will jump to ¢566, for regular ¢549 and for diesel ¢¢453.

The price would take effect the middle of July.
