Top World Wind Park in Argentina

Buenos Aires -  With a generating capacity between 600 and 900 megawatts, Argentina will have the world''s largest eolian park, it was revealed there Tuesday.

As many as 2.40 billion dollars will be outlaid for the construction of the work, with a capacity twice as large as the leading one in Europe, according to Telam news agency.

Argentine President Cristina Fernandez, and Jose Grajaels, manager of Guascor Spanish firm, signed a related agreement Monday in Rio Gallegos city, capital of Santa Cruz province.

The park will be set up in Santa Cruz' Pico Truncado locality, run by the Spanish group.

Grajales informed the construction works are expected to begin in 12 months, in association with the local Pico Truncado S.A. company. Once erected, Argentina will become the Latin American leader in green energy, with a production accounting for 5 percent of the country's total generation.

Along the thee years estimated for the project's completion, about 1,500 direct and indirect jobs will be created, as well as more than 600 additional ones, Grajales added.
