Heavy Rain Cuts of Passage in San Ramón and Sarchí

The heavy rains of the past day have closed off two important national roads, the road that connects San Ramón with the Bajo Los Rodríguez and the road that connects Sarchí with the Bajos del Toro.

The San Ramón road closure is at kilometre 33, near the Daniel Gutiérrez hydrolectric plant, according to Enrique Núñez, of the Policía de Tránsito.

The press office of the Ministerio de Obras Públicas y Transportes (MOPT) says that the road was affected by heavy rains washing away parts of the road.

In Sarchí the bridge over the Seco river was washed out.

The MOPT says it will take weeks to repair the damage and re-open passage.
