Lula Stresses Cooperation
Between Brazil,
Africa
Brasilia - Brazilian President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva said on Tuesday that
Africa is "a priority in the external relations of
Brazil."
Lula made the remarks when meeting his Mozambican
counterpart Armando Guebuza in Brasilia.
"Brazil also wants to participate in development
projects in Africa and cooperate with African
countries particularly in the areas of health and
technology," he said.
The president said that with the Brazilian
government's support, a laboratory would be built in
Mozambique to produce medicines to treat AIDS
patients.
Guebuza appreciated the importance that the
Brazilian government has attached to relations with
Mozambique and the rest of Africa.
He also stressed that Mozambique has "tremendous
opportunities" for public and private investment,
and encouraged Brazilian businessmen to visit his
country and "do business" there.
The Mozambican president, who arrived in Brazil on
Sunday, will conclude his visit on Wednesday.
