Colombia Offers Evidence
On Rebels'
Financial Support For Ecuadorian President
Bogota - The Colombian government
said on Sunday that it had video evidence about the
financial support for Ecuadorian President Rafael
Correa provided by its biggest rebel group.
The video footage had been presented to the
Organization of the American States (OAS) for
further investigation, said government spokesman
Cesar Velasquez.
Local media on Friday published some pictures of
Mono Jojoy, head of the Revolutionary Armed Force of
Colombia (FARC), saying that Jojoy had talked about
its "U.S. dollar support" to Correa in his camp in
the forest.
Jojoy said he regretted the death of FARC's
ex-commander Manuel Marulanda, known as "Tirofijo,"
and mentioned his plan for expanding and
strengthening the group's international profile.
Ecuador broke up diplomatic ties with Colombia in
2008 after the Colombian army crossed the border to
crack down on the FARC rebels. The two countries
have had frictions from time to time since then. |
