3 killed, 17 injured in clashes with rebels
in Colombia
Bogota - Three Colombian
civilians have been killed and 17 others injured in
the country's Cauca province during clashes between
the police and the Revolutionary Armed Force of
Colombia (FARC) , the police said on Sunday.
The police exchanged fires with FARC members who
were trying to enter the municipality of Corinto.
Three civilians were killed and 17 others were
injured in the clash, including two police officers,
they said.
"The situation had been under control," the police
added.
FARC is the largest anti-government guerrilla in
Colombia. Colombian President Alvaro Uribe has put
the elimination of the rebel group as his top
priority. |
