BMC Shifting Long-Term Focus to Brazil and
Costa Rica

US developer BMC Software will be shifting
its focus in Latin America to Brazil and
Costa Rica, the company's Latin America
general director Elías Cedillo told
BNamericas.
Cedillo said BMC is currently looking to
solidify its presence in Mexico, where the
company is expanding its presence in Bajío
and southeastern regions, but the long-term
focus will be on Brazil and Costa Rica,
where BMC expects to have new offices up and
running by the beginning of 2011.
The Costa Rica facility will be used to
cover operations in Central America and the
Caribbean, while the Brazil facility will
help beef up coverage in the domestic market
and other parts of South America. Brazil
represents an especially attractive market
for the company due to the size of its
economy and relatively high IT investments,
Cedillo said.
The facilities will provide BMC's software
products as well as its services, which
include IT security consulting and risk
analysis. The executive said BMC has between
80 and 100 security clients, of which 60-70%
are financial sector firms.
BMC carries out IT security projects in
Latin America with partners including
Juniper Networks and Aruba.
BMC posted net profits of US$238mn in its
fiscal year 2009, ended March 31, a decrease
of 24.1% compared to the US$314mn posted in
the previous year.
In Latin America, BMC has offices in Brazil,
Mexico and Argentina. |
