Colon Climbs ¢8 Colones In A Single Day

Following weeks of hovering without any significant move up or down, the dollar moved up to ¢8 colones in yesterday's trading, according to the latest posting of the Colon/Dollar exchange rate by the Banco Central de Costa Rica (BCCR) - Central Bank.

The colon/dollar sell rate opened Tuesday morning at ¢581.02, but during the day some banks had posted the sell rate as high as ¢589, ¢8 colones more than the opening rate.

Both the Banco Nacional (BN) and the Banco de Costa Rica (BCR) led the trading, while private banks followed suit, not to be left behind.

The Central Bank opened today's sell rate at ¢586.94.
