"Matapobres"
In Police Custody
Police have in custody a man whom they
believe is the "matapobres", tied to drug
sales and at least five homicides in San
José.
The man identified only by his last name,
Arley, fell into the arms of the law last
Friday when he was leaving a motel in San
Francisco de dos Ríos, with his wife.
According to the director of the Organismo
de Investigación Judicial (OIJ), Jorge
Rojas, the man is alleged to threaten his
neighbours in Los Guidos de Desamparados,
reigning terror in the barrio and to have
murdered at least five indigents of the
area.
Arley is no stranger to police, as he has
been in and out police custody at least 39
times.
Rojas explained that they had the man in
their sights, missing him on several
occasions, including a raid on his home last
week.
The Fiscalia de Desamparados ordered the man
to four months detention while the OIJ
continue their investigation.
