New Vehicular
Inspection Manual To Be Introduced On
Wednesday
The new manual to be used for the annual
vehicular inspection by RITEVE will be a
little lighter than expected, as only 30
items, instead of the announced 45, will be
upgraded to "grave" (serious).
The new manual goes into effect on Wednesday
(July 9) and will affect the inspection of
all vehicles.
The Consejo de Transporte Publico (CTP) has
been working on amending the manual to
include as "grave" items like polarized
windows and modifications of bumpers.
The RITEVE reports an item either as "leve"
or "grave" following a test. A leve,
although the vehicle inspection is passed,
is to point out to the owner problems with
the vehicle.
On the other hand, one or more grave(s) will
fail the inspection and the owner is
expected to remedy the error before
submitting the vehicle for re-inspection.
Javier Vargas, director of the CTP, said
items related to road safety have been
upgraded to grave.
Although the manual is being adopted this
week, Vargas said that the CTP will, in
conjunction with RITEVE, evaluating the time
period required to adequately inform owners
of the changes.
It is expected that the new, tougher,
inspection rules will go into effect in
September to coincide with the
implementation of the full effect of the new
Ley de Transito. |
