Guatemala Join Forces against Violence
Guatemala - Guatemalan security forces and mayoralties are coordinating efforts to jointly face the wave of violence in the country, which only last year left over 6,000 people dead.

In a meeting, Government Minister Salvador Gandara and metropolitan mayor Alvaro Arzu agreed to share information between the National Civil Police (PNC) and the Metropolitan Company Regulating Transport and Transit (EMETRA).

The two entities will support mutually, mainly with monitoring cameras they use in different parts of the city.

Inter-institutional cooperation also includes joint operations in the capital's markets, and in the public transportation service.

Gandara, third government minister of the current Guatemalan administration, promised to show short-term results in fighting insecurity, considered the main social problem.
