Forces against Violence
Guatemala - Guatemalan security forces and mayoralties are
coordinating efforts to jointly face the wave of violence in the
country, which only last year left over 6,000 people dead.
In a meeting, Government Minister Salvador Gandara and metropolitan
mayor Alvaro Arzu agreed to share information between the National
Civil Police (PNC) and the Metropolitan Company Regulating Transport
and Transit (EMETRA).
The two entities will support mutually, mainly with monitoring
cameras they use in different parts of the city.
Inter-institutional cooperation also includes joint operations in
the capital's markets, and in the public transportation service.
Gandara, third government minister of the current Guatemalan
administration, promised to show short-term results in fighting
insecurity, considered the main social problem. |
