Vehicles Still Without Marchamo
According to figures
released by the Instituto Nacional de Seguros (INS) - the state
insurer - owners of some 205.000 vehicles have yet to pay the 2009
Marchamo, which was due on December 31, 2008.
The breakdown of numbers shows that owners of all types of vehicles,
including motorcycles and light commercial vehicles.
Some vehicles are no longer in circulation and their owners have not
made the necessary registration changes, which automatically
generates a marchamo charge. A number of vehicles without the
marchamo are with mechanical problems and not able to pass the
Riteve inspection.
Owners circulating vehicles without the marchamo paid face a fine to
the confiscation of the license plate and the vehicle.
