¢40.000 Required For
School Supplies
The beginning of the
2009 school year is
around the corner and
many parents are
stressed out in having
to stretch an already
stretched budget to get
the kids back to school.
So, what does it cost to
get a child ready for
school? ¢40.000 colones
according to a poll by
the Spanish language
daily, Al Día.
The newspaper gave
examples of some
expenditures facing
parents - 8 notebooks of
100 pages each ¢5.600;
two shirts or bloueses
¢3.900 each; a pair of
pants ¢8.500 or skirt
¢8.900; a pair of shoes
¢6.695; socks ¢929; and
a pair of scissors,
pencils and erasers
¢4.755.
Shopping around can help
parents save on the
important school
supplies that every
student needs.
Some 115.000 public
sector employees will be
getting, as usual, a
boost of ¢61.5 billion
colones which for the
exclusive use of
preparing their children
for school, which is
expected to be doled out
by the Ministerio de
Hacienda on January 22. |
