Guaro Sales With A
Record Year
The Fábrica Nacional de
Licores (Fanal) said
that the sale of "guaro"
Cacique increased by
300.000 litres over
2007, ending a record
year for the national
distiller.
Fanal reports elling
437.000 cases of 12
bottles of Cacique,
25.000 more than in
2007, the best sales
record in the last six
years.
Óscar Aguilar, Fanal's
general manager, added
that the increased sales
has been in liquor
stores and supermarkets,
indicating that the
consumption of guaro is
more in the home than in
bars.
For their part, the
Cervecería de Costa
Rica, brewers of
"Imperial", "Pilsen",
"Bavaria" and 'Rock
Ice", as well as a
variety of other brands,
said that beer
consumption grows during
the Christmas and New
Years holiday season,
though it refused to
provide numbers other
than to say that 457
million cans of beers
are consumed annually in
