More than 2.500 yesterday attended the first day of the fifth edition of the Feria Bilingüe organized by the Coalición Costarricense de Iniciativas de Desarrollo (Cinde), where 3.500 jobs are up for grabs.

The fair which continues until Sunday is expecting up to 10.000 visitors who can meet their prospective employers and submit their resume.

The fair is being held at the old Fábrica Nacional de Licores in San Jose. Hours today are between 9am and 5pm and tomorrow from 10am to 4pm.

Vanesa Gibson, a Cinde director, said that hiring could be immediate or take some time, depending on the needs of the employer and qualifications of the candidate.

"There are some positions that are available for immediate hiring", said Gibson.

The fair is open to the public and entrance is free. Candidates are required to have their resume in digital form like a CD or memory card or stick for uploading to a computer. Fair organizers say printed resumes will not be accepted.

Some of the companies taking part in the job fair are Western Union, Amazon, Avventa, Fujtsi and Citi.
