Gasoline Prices Up Tomorrow
A reminder that the price of gasoline goes up ¢16 colones for a
litre of super; ¢16 for regular and ¢3 for diesel, at 12:01am
Friday, when the new prices at the pump will be ¢432 for a litre of
super; ¢426 for regular and ¢430 for diesel.
Some gasoline station owners have been accused in the past of
hoarding, closing down their pumps early the day before a price
hike, so that they can sell the cheaper gasoline in their storage
tanks for a higher price.
This practice is illegal and station owners can face sanctions,
including the loss of their license to operate. To avoid being a
victim of this practice, best to gas up early in the day.
The price hike was approved last week by the Autoridad Reguladora de
los Servicios Públicos (Aresep) based on the increase in the price
of crude oil on international markets last month.
Tomorrow, Friday, the Aresep will be setting the prices of fuel for
next month.
The regulatory body did not say if the prices will go up or down in
tomorrow's presentation.
