PLN Race Now Down To Three
Candidates
Carlos Francisco Echeverría officially dropped out of the nomination
race for the 2010 president candidate of the artido Liberación
Nacional (PLN).
With the bowing out of Echeverría, three candidates will now seek
the nomination and share equally the cost of the convention on June
7, 2009.
Former Costa Rican vice-president, Laura Chinchilla is still the
favourite even though former San Jose mayor, Johnny Araya is 11
points up on Laura in the latest public opinion poll.
50% of those polled say they would choose Araya, while only 39%
would choose Chinchilla.
For former ministro de Seguridad, Fernando Berrocal, the third
candidate in the race, it will be an uphill battle all the way as
only 2% of the polled would choose him.
Chinchilla and Araya both stepped down from the positions to run for
the party leadership, however, Berrocal was, well not fired, or
asked to leave, just simply parted from his post in the current
Administration. |
