Argentina, Brazil Review Strategies
Buenos Aires - Argentina's President Cristina Fernandez and
Brazil's Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva expect to
review Thursday in this capital future
investments and boost emblematic projects of
a relationship they consider strategic. Lula
arrived in this capital Wednesday night to
attend the Third Presidential Meeting of the
Brazil-Argentina Bilateral Integration and
Coordination Mechanism. This event will
enhance bilateral ties and expand
cooperation.
The previous meeting of this Mechanism took
place in September in Brasilia. The aim was
to work in favor of national projects of
convergent development, with a strong social
and productive agenda.
Fernandez and Da Silva reiterated at that
time their commitment of strengthening the
Southern Common Market, defined as the main
regional sphere for both countries since the
political, economic and social point of
view.
Both heads of State also stressed the
importance of the signing of the
Constitutive Treaty of the Union of South
American Nations, on May 23, 2008 in the
Brazilian capital.
The two presidents also applauded the
evident growth of bilateral trade, which
reached $30 billion USD at the end of the
year, and expressed their willingness to
work for its balance.
The joint declaration inked then also
reaffirmed the strategic nature of the space
cooperation between both countries, and
highlighted important advances of the
Bi-national Nanotechnology Center.
