Latin American Security Conference Held in Honduras

Tegucigalpa - Military chiefs from 10 Latin American countries met here on Wednesday for a security conference on the fight against organized crimes and drug trafficking.

This meeting is aimed at providing the young people in the region with a better future by curbing the influence of criminal gangs and drugs, said Honduran army spokesman Colonel Ramiro Archaga.

Countries in the region have to coordinate actions to face the security problems of juvenile delinquency, drug trafficking and organized crime, said the Chief of Staff of the Honduran Armed Forces, General Romeo Vazquez Velasquez.

Representatives from Honduras, Belize, Colombia, Costa Rica, Dominican Republic, El Salvador, Guatemala, Nicaragua, Mexico and Panama attended the meeting.
