Caracas - The National
Assembly of Venezuela is to discuss Tuesday
the second reading of a bill to change the capital"s administrative organization.
The bill, already passed in first reading,
establishes the Capital District for the
Libertador municipality area, dissociating
it from neighboring towns of the nearby
state of Miranda.
The Metropolitan District will be conformed
by four municipalities, Baruta, El Hatillo,
Chacao and Sucre, of which the Libertador
municipality is part.
Deputy Desiree Santos recently said the Law
on the Organization of the Capital District
will guarantee optimum administration of the
capital.
Deputy Augusto Montiel stated that the
creation of the Capital District is a
constitutional mandate for a better
organization, fair and balanced distribution
of resources, and respect of municipal
divisions.
The bill stresses that the Capital District
will have a head of government appointed by
the president of the Republic due to reasons
of national interest.
