Going to Escazú and beyond this weekend?
Better find a better route as the autopista
Próspero Fernández will be totally closed at
at the Tiribí river bridge, as work crews
will be laying the concrete slab on the
bridge.
The closure will be from 8apm on Saturday to
4pm on Sunday, according to the MOPT press
office.
The bridge has been undergoing an expansion
to allow six lanes of traffic - three each
way - that should be fulling operations by
next month, when the San Jose - Santa Ana
section of the new highway to Caldera will
be complete, including the charging of
tolls.
The closure will affect travel from the
Circunvalación to the Escazú intersection.
Alternate routes are: Pavas - Anonos -
Escazú; Sabana Sur - Anonos - Escazú, o
Alajuelita- San Felipe - Escazú.
The bridge immediately east of the
Multiplaza is also another bottleneck on the
Próspero Fernández, as one side of the
bridge is completely closed to traffic,
allowing only one lane each way on the
opened section. The bridge is the last of
the bridges on the section to undergo the
expansion.
