President Rafael Correa Tuesday said if he
was reelected he would continue his reforms
to protect the country's small businesses
and promote employment.
While addressing a ceremony attended by 800
businessmen in Guayaquil, Correa said if he
wins the presidential election on April 26,
he would carry on his "five revolutions,"
which means institutional,
democratic-constitutional, social, ethical
and economic reforms, to set up a
mutual-benefit economic system.
Correa said Ecuador will adopt a law to
impede the privatization and give more
decision-making power to public enterprises.
"We seek to build a homeland with equal
opportunities, to set anew work model which
help us get rid of paternalism and achieve
social development," Correa added.
"Poor people need justice, equity and
opportunities, rather than charity or
donations," he said.
According to Correa, the main purpose of the
reforms is to promote the country's
employment opportunities.
