South American, Arab Countries Collaborate
Doha - Authorities
from South America and Arab countries
reached Tuesday positions to boost economic
and trade exchange, and ratified points of
convergence in political issues of great
world impact.
The global financial crisis and its
repercussions in bilateral ties, as well as
encouraging trade and reciprocal investment
focused in this capital the Second Summit of
Heads of State of South America and Arab
countries (ASPA).
Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani, Emir of
Qatar, welcomed the eight South American
statesmen and top-level officials from five
other countries of that southern zone, as
well as Arab heads of State who attended the
recently concluded summit of that community.
Arab and South American diplomats consulted
by Prensa Latina stated that the agenda of
the meeting includes issues related to
trade, investment, environment, migration,
and others.
Statesmen from 22 Arab League (AL) member
countries expressed gratitude for the South
American support to the Palestinian people,
in which Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez
condemned early today the Israeli policy not
only in West Bank but also in Gaza.
The Venezuelan head of State proposed to
create a "great energy and food alliance
between Arab and South American countries,"
using potentialities, and natural and
economic resources from both areas.
In statements to Venezuela journalists and
Prensa Latina, after arriving in Doha,
Chavez considered the ASPA meeting a good
opportunity to give shape to the idea of the
pluripolar world, what he called the new
architecture of the post US imperial world.
Participants in the summit will discuss and
approve today the documents prepared early
March for their respective foreign ministers
and experts at the AL headquarter in El
Cairo. |
