Cuban Picasso to Open
Exhibition
HAVANA - An exhibition
of Cuban painter Juan
Picasso, distant cousin
of the famous Spanish
painter of "Guernica",
will open November 6 at
the Guayasamin Gallery
in the historical center
of Havana.
Sources of the gallery
reported that the
exhibit opens a path
diametrically opposed to
the painter's previous
works and the use of
color and the drawings
show a "thoughtful and
incisive language" that
aims at human
psychology.
According to the
sources, the exhibit
shows the technical and
artistic growth of an
artist that is highly
experimental and depicts
his social environment.
The pieces by Juan
Picasso, descendant of
legendary Spanish
painter Pablo Picasso
and known as one of the
Cuban "black Picassos",
has been included in
several collective
exhibits outside the
Island like in the Casa
Frela Gallery, New York
(2006) and in Germany
(2008).
