Interlínea Buses Maybe Rolling In January 2009
Future users of the "Interlínea" - intersectoral buses - will have to wait until next year.

The MOPT yesterday informed that the delay of the service that was to have begun last June is because of group of seven bus operators have filed objecteds to the regulations in awarding the concession.

Karla González, MOPT minister, had promised to have the buses rolling last month, on the basis of issuing temporary permites while the process of awarding concessions continued.

However, lawyers for the Tránsport ministry has decided to first study the objections presented by the group and provide a report to the Consejo de Transporte Público during the coming weeks, stalling the issuing of temporary permits.

González said that the lawyers and her officials will be working to analyze the objections and proposals by the group and to determine what if any changes are required which will delay the process until at least the end of January 2009.

The Interlínea service was stalled days before its commencement in June when an appeal to the Constitutional Court by one of the losing bidders put the brakes on the project.
