Security Minister
Promises Added Security
In December
The ministra de
Seguridad Pública,
Janina del Vecchio,
announced yesterday that
some 9.500 police
officers will be
providing "special
attention" in San José,
Escazú, San Carlos,
Cartago, Alajuela and
Heredia centre, between
December 1 and 25.
The special attention,
like last year, is due
to the fact that the "aguinaldo"
- the Christmas bonus -
hits the streets
beginning on December 1
and that means more cash
in the pocket of
consumers on the streets
as they go about their
holiday shopping.
Del Vecchio said that
485 mobile units, 585
motorcycle unis and one
helicopter, will be
assisting patrols,
especially in high crime
areas.
"We want this year to be
without not even one
incident", said Del
Vecchio.
Erick Lacayo, director
of the Fuerza Pública
that currently on "pre-aguinaldo"
operations are in pace,
which means a sweep of
troubled areas. After
December 25, Lacayo,
said operation "vacaciones
seguras" (safe holidays)
will be in place. |
