Milanés Advisor Detained
In Luxemburg
The international police
organization, INTERPOL,
informed yesterday that
they detained Costa
Rican lawyer, Adolfo
Somarribas Arias, in
Luxemburg, where he was
hiding out to avoid
facing justice at home
for fraud.
Somarribas was a former
advisor to Luis Milanés
who is currently in
Costa Rica and being
investigated for fraud
of us$200 million
dollars.
Milanés ran the high
yield interest
investment firm called
Savings Unlimited.
Milanés had gone missing
for six years until a
few months he was
detained en route to
Costa Rica, where he is
currently free after
posting a us$12 million
bond, while he awaits
the conclusion of the
investigation and
possible charges.
An international arrest
warrant was issued
against Somarribas in
August. Investigators
tracked Arias to
Luxemburg, although the
fugitive was often in
France, Germany and
Switzerland.
The Fiscalía ties
Somarribas to fraud
against the investors of
Savings Unlimited. An
estimated 2.600
investors lost money
with the fall of Savings
Unlimited. |
