No to 14% Increase in
Marchamo
The Superintendencia de
Pensiones (SUPEN) has
rejected a request by
the Instituto Nacional
de Seguros (INS) for an
increase of 14% in the
cost of the 2009
Marchamo, the annual
vehicular circulation
permit.
SUPEN announced the
decision Monday morning
of the request maybe by
the state insurer two
weeks ago.
In its communication,
SUPEN said that the INS
proposal was
insufficient to meet the
technical foundation
needed to calculate the
higher insurance
premium.
The INS has yet to set a
start date for the
collection of the 2009
Marchamo, which is
payable by December 31
and payable at all INS
offices, agencies and
banks in the country
Some 1.5 million
vehicles are required to
pay the Marchamo. |
