Buenos Aires - The 97th Argentina-Cuba Friendship House was opened in southern Santa Cruz province with a debate on the US blockade imposed on the Island for nearly 50 years.

Counselor of the Cuban Embassy Jorge Luis Mayo attended the meeting, started Friday night with the screening of the documentary "El Bloqueo: La Guerra Contra Cuba" (US Blockade: The War against Cuba) by Argentinian filmmaker Carolina Silvestre.

The meeting was held a few hours after the overwhelming Cuban victory at the UN General Assembly with the approval of the resolution demanding an end to this criminal policy.

It was approved by 185 member countries, the largest figure since the project haed been first presented in 1992.

All local government and university officials attended the meeting.
