Costa Rican Classes in
Hallways
The lack of
classrooms in Costa
Rican schools has forced
teachers to teach
elsewhere under poor
conditions, according to
Spanish language daily, La Nación.
Details from the
Ministerio de Educación
Pública (MEP)
noted a lack of 4,700
classrooms and 3,000
desks.
There are 700 education
centres waiting for a
computer laboratory but
only 30 are being built
every year.
The La Nación gives details of
hundreds of Costa Rican
students at class in
corridors, under trees,
parochial halls, private
homes and gyms.
Some other elements that
affect the education
process are noise, rain,
wind, worn desks, and
small blackboards.
In addition many
institutions of the
rural area do not have
drinking water or
