New Collections Law Will
Judicial Process
The new law that speeds
up the judicial process
of collections goes into
effect tomorrow,
creating specialized
courts which will
quickly and exclusively
handle claims for unpaid
debts, like credit
cards, bank loans, etc.
The collection laws up
to now would guarantee
the person who is in
debt or under financial
obligation to another
for years, while the new
law will reduce the time
creditors have to wait
for a court date to
months.
The new law aims to also
improve the efficiency
of the civil courts of
other claims.
The new procedures make
it easier for creditors
to have their claims
settled, claims for
civil, commercial,
administrative and
agricultural debts.
The law also allows the
creation of an
electronic filing and
allows for electronic
recovery, meaning there
parties can respond
electronically to the
claims, including
receipt for filing,
without having to step a
foot in a judicial
office.
