Pacheco Re-Elected As Legislature President
Francisco Antonio Pacheco was re-elected as president of the Legislative Assembly for a third term, receiving 29 votes, 25 from his Partido Liberación Nacional (PLN) party members, while his competitor, Elizabeth Fonseca, received only 15 votes.

Pacheco, as president of the Legislature, is third in line to take over the presidency in the event the president and vice-president are incapable of completing their duties.

The election of the president of the Legislature occurs every May 1 for a one year term.

Pacheco is one of the few that has been re-elected for three consecutive terms.
