Alliance For New
Humanity Conference
Underway at
Intercontinental
Acknowledged as one of
the world's greatest
leaders in the field of
mind body medicine,
Deepak Chopra, is in
Costa Rica to
participate in the Human
Forum, sponsored by the
Alliance for a New
Humanity (Anh), at the
Intercontinental Hotel,
that runs until
tomorrow, March 13.
This is the first time
the conference is being
held in Costa Rica and
the first time outside
of Puerto Rico since its
founding in 2002.
We want to create a
better world, a world of
peace, of opportunity
and respect for all, of
ecological balance is
the Anh statement on its
website.
"The country is making
progress", Said Chopra
at a press conference on
Tuesday, citing the
Costa Rica's
environmental awareness
and lack of army as a
part of the reasons for
moving the event here.
Chopra added that the
decision to Costa Rica
was also to pay homage
to Costa Rican
president, Oscar Arias,
who is also a founding
member of the Anh.
The conference is
hopeful to counter five
myths said to dominate
relationships and
interaction with nature:
money brings happiness;
technology yields well
being; weapons provide
security; natural
resources are unlimited;
and, somebody else will
solve society's
problems.
Chopra is not without
critics, mainly on the
organization's lack of
impact on a global
level.
More than 500 people are
attending the three day
conference, including
Indian Ashok Khosla,
president of the Club of
Rome; Italian journalist
Roberto Savio; and,
American concert pianist
Lorin Hollander.
