Brazilian "Flying"
Priest's Body Likely To
Be Found
Brazil's oil and gas
giant Petrobras said
Friday the body found on
the coast of Rio de
Janeiro state by its
tugboat is likely to be
the ballooning priest
Adelir de Carli, who
went missing over the
southern Atlantic in
April.
Petrobras's tugboat
workers found the body
Thursday afternoon about
100 kilometers off the
coast of Rio de Janeiro
state and took it to the
town of Macae to be
identified.
Local police were
investigating whether
the body belonged to
Adelir de Carli and the
priest's father would go
to Macae Saturday to
make a DNA test.
De Carli disappeared on
April 20, hours after he
took off from Paranagua
in the southern state of
Parana, strapped to
1,000 helium balloons in
an attempt to raise
money to build a rest
stop and worship center
for truckers. The
balloons were found
along the coast a day
later.
