Gasoline Prices To Drop,
Diesel With Reduced
Sulfur To Increase
While the price of
regular and super
gasoline is set to drop
on Tuesday, the price of
diesel will increase,
mainly due to the
reduction of sulfur in
the product, according
to the Refinadora
Costarricense de
Petroleo (Recope).
The price of a lite of
super gasoline will drop
¢12 colones and ¢8
colones for regular,
while the price of
diesel will increase ¢15
colones.
Diesel prices will go
from the current ¢513 to
¢528 colones per litre,
however, its sulfur
content will be only
0.05%, which will
benefit health and the
environment.
Up to last year, diesel
fuel contained 0.35%
sulfur. Recope was
ordered by the
government to reduce the
amont of sulfur content
in the fuel.
The price adjustment
also includes the
variation in the price
of crude oil on
international markets.
Super gasoline will go
from the current ¢574 to
¢562 and regular will
drop from ¢559 to ¢551.
The price changes were
approved by the
Autoridad Reguladora de
los Servicios Públicos (Aresep)
- government agency that
regulates public prices
and services and will be
published in the
official government
publication, La Gaceta,
on Monday.
