Nicaraguan Farmers to
Increase Grain
Production
Nicaraguan producers are
working to increase the
production of meat and
grains, as told by
sources of the sector
Monday.
Cattle breeders and rice
and bean growers met
with the local high
authorities to lay out
plans and exchange on
the collaboration to
produce items to satisfy
local demand and export
operations.
With more than 50
percent of its
cultivable land not
properly used, and its
abundant water
resources, Nicaragua has
the potential to reach
these objectives, local
governmental and
agricultural authorities
said here.
The government is
fostering a movement of
cooperatives and small
producers to organize
industrial resources, to
facilitate access to the
markets with a first
quality product, like
black beans, which is
now sold to Venezuela.
Venezuelan authorities
have announced their
disposal to import 8,500
tons of black beans,
23,000 tons of sorghum,
and 500 tons of meat
among other products. |
