No Vehicular Restriction
Of San Jose During
Holidays
Beginning this morning
and until January 2, the
vehicular restriction of
San José is lifted and
all vehicles can
circulate without the
worry of getting
ticketed.
The director de Tránsito,
Germán Marín, said that
during the past week
there has been a drop in
the number of tickets
issued to offenders of
the restrictions, his
officials issuing on
average only 300 tickets
a day, almost half the
normal.
The lifting of the
restrictions is to allow
shoppers an opportunity
to visit downtown San
José without fear of
getting ticketed and the
fact that there are less
vehicles on the road
during this time of
year, as government
offices and businesses
are closed for the
holidays.
The Tránsito officers
normally assigned to the
downtown core will be
reassigned to patrol the
routes to the beaches,
resorts and other
tourist destinations.
According to the
minister of Obras
Publicas y Transportes,
Karla González, the
restrictions have
reduced vehicular
circulation of San José
by 100.000 vehicles. |
