Caja With New Digital
Communications System
The Caja Costarricense
de Seguro Social (CCSS)
- Social Security - has
announced a new
telephone number - 2539
0000 - and a new digital
telephone system to
attend to calls.
The modern system will
allow users to get
connected immediately
without having to bypass
an operator and will be
able to call directly to
any extension, according
to Carlos Madrigal, head
of the Ingeniería y
Mantenimiento de Redes
Informáticas.
The Caja is using an IP
system with 1.380 direct
lines connected the
individual computers of
Caja personnel, and
allows for voice
messaging and unites the
various Caja hospitals.
In January a similar
system will be
operations at all Caja
hospitals in the
country.
The system, when fully
operational will replace
the current
telecommunications
system at the 29 Caja
hospitals, 104 health
centres and 950 Ebais
(clinics) around the
country.
