Ortega Asks IADB to Assist Fire Victims
MANAGUA - Nicaragua's President Daniel Ortega requested the Inter-American Development Bank (IADB) to assist victims of the July 31 fire that destroyed the country's largest market.

Ortega, along with his economic cabinet and other members of his team, welcomed IADB president Colombian Luis Alberto Moreno at the Government headquarter. Both analyzed possibilities of support from that credit entity to the development of Nicaragua.

The president's request to support victims of the disaster in the East Market, which left losses higher to $100 million, Moreno said that an expert from a bank program denominated FOMIN will work in the affair.

The IADB has committed nearly $88 million this year in energy projects and food programs in this Central American nation, analyzed in the meeting.
