Strong Earthquake Hits
Guatemala Coast
An earthquake measuring
6.1 on the Richter scale
struck close to the
Pacific Coast of
Guatemala Monday night,
according to reports.
The U.S. Geological
Survey said the quake
struck at 9:03 p.m.
(0303 GMT Tuesday),
about 70 km south of the
city of Escuintla.
There were no immediate
reports of major damage
or casualties, although
it is reported that
Guatemala City and
Escuintla suffered power
cuts.
