Referendum Voting Ballot Cannot

The
Tribunal Supremo de Elecciones (TSE)
warned yesterday that voters who
are by any means caught
recording electronically their
vote during the TLC referendum
vote on October 7, will have
their vote annulled.
The warning comes from the
insistence of some businessmen
who are obligating their
employees to prove their vote in
favour of the Tratado de Libre
Comercio (TLC) - free trade
agreement with the United States
- by recording their voting slip
with their cellular phone
camera.
The TSE said it will keep a keen
eye open for such practice and
voting booth monitors will have
the powert to annul votes of any
citizens making any such
recording of their ballot.
The Tribunal emphasized that in
the voting booths, cellular
phones, wireless communicaiton
devices, like computers and
radios are not permitted.
