Zapote Bull Ring
Expected To Get The
Green Light Today
Yes, Virginia, there
will be the bulls this
year, as the Contraloría
General de la República
(Comptroller's office)
is expected to give the
green light today for
the construction a
permanent "redondel de
toros", the bull ring in
Zapote.
The bulls have been part
of the annual Zapote
fair in San José that
run from Christmas day
to the new year.
Last year the Zapote
fair was cancelled when
the Minsterio de Salud
did not give the green
light to organizers,
fearing the safety of
the thousands of
visitors to the fair was
in jeopardy, especially
the makeshift bull ring.
Once the Contraloría
gives the nod to the
contract given to BGL
Consultores, the
construction of the
redondel can begin in
the next 15 days and
ready in time for
December.
