Honduran Teachers Want
Back Pay
Teachers in Honduras'
Francisco Morazan
Department continued
protesting Thursday,
demanding seven months
of unpaid salary that
the authorities blame on
internal irregularities.
The protest began
yesterday with the
occupation of the local
Education Office and
Jesus Milla Selva
Institute, where 67
teachers have not been
paid, yet teachers
continue to be assigned.
Francisco Morazan
Department Education
Director Altagracia
Sanchez denied any
irregularities and
blamed previous
administrations for
internal disorder.
Although Sanchez said
she has arranged to pay
the salaries, the
skeptical teachers
decided to go ahead with
the protest. |
