Yet Another
U.S. Fugitive Arrested
in Costa Rica
Costa Rican authorities
yesterday confirmed the
arrest of a Texas
fugitive living in San
Isidro de Heredia, north
of San José, whom they
have been pursuing ofr
several years on
international parental
kidpnapping charges.
The former nurse, Chere
Lyn Tomayko, fled Texas
in 1999 after a Texas
District court decided
she and her boyfriend to
have joint custore of
their daughter,
Alexandria Camille
Cyprian. The court
ordered that Cyprian was
to live in Tarrant
County.
Three years after the
court decision, Tomayko
left Texas with her
daughter, now 18, and
headed for Costa Rica. A
U.S. Federal grand jury
in Texas indicted
Tomayko.
Working with Interpol,
the international police
agency, Costa Rican
authorities detained
Tomayko in San Isidro de
General, Heredia, while
driving and in the
company of a five year
old. Authorities said
they do not know of
Cyprian's location.
Tomayko, who have been
living and working in
Costa Rica as an English
teacher in Heredia for
almost a decade, will
now face deportation to
the United States.
Tomayko is the fourth
U.S. fugitive to fall
into the hands of
authorities in the past
month.
