Nicaragua for ALBA
Hurricane Help
Nicaragua will ask the
member countries of the
Bolivarian Alternative
for the Americas (ALBA)
to readjust a program
for the construction of
houses and classrooms to
benefit those affected
by Hurricane Felix.
According to Nicaraguan
President Daniel Ortega,
the request will be
presented Monday in
Havana, where
representatives from the
governments of Cuba,
Venezuela, Bolivia, and
Nicaragua, the four
countries encouraging
the integrationist
initiative, will meet.
Ortega announced the
requested readjustment
of the program,
estimated at five
million dollars, aims to
build temples, churches,
and health centers in
the communities pounded
by Felix.
The chief of State, who
last night met with
members of his cabinet
and military chiefs to
assess damages caused by
the hurricane, pointed
out the facilities would
also be used as shelters
in case of other natural
disasters. |
