Tribute to Che Guevara in Nicaragua
The Che Guevara Committee convoked the Nicaraguan population Monday to take part in a tribute to the legendary guerrilla leader Che Guevara in commemoration of the 40th anniversary of his death in Bolivia.

The political and cultural event will be held on Sunday at the Center for the Promotion of Rural and Social Research (CIPRES), which has the only Central American monument to the memory of Ernesto Che Guevara.

"We are going to recognize his example and legacy for the new generations," said Francisco Lopez, from the Che Guevara Committee, an organization founded in Nicaragua ten years ago.

The organizers will present a Che photo exhibit, and some local artists have announced their presence at the event.

The event will also demand the release from US prisons of Gerardo Hernandez, Ramon Labaņino, Rene Gonzalez, Antonio Guerrero and Fernando Gonzalez, known as the Cuban Five, Nicaraguan historian Aldo Diaz Lacayo said.
