Honduras to Explore for
Oil
Honduras will begin oil
explorations in the
Caribbean Sea in the
first quarter of 2008,
confirmed Honduran
President Manuel Zelaya
Tuesday.
Zelaya said there is
evidence of the
existence of oil and gas
fields in the waters of
the Caribbean that
belong to the national
territory.
"We want to investigate
how much, how good and
how heavy these products
are," he stated.
According to Marcos
Flores, head of the
Energy Office,
investigations will be
made for four months by
an unnamed firm.
The enterprise will
invest 10 million
dollars to find
oilfields that can be
exploited, said Flores. |
