Jairo Perez Wins Ninth ALAS

Costa Rican Jairo Pérez
won the ninth Latin
American Surf
Association (ALAS)
Tour event in Costa Rica
after he pulled an
impressive five
off-the-tops on a
smoking left and scoring
the highest wave of the
Championship, 8.73
points.
The Costa Rican took
three of the four first
places of the
championship: Jairo
Pérez in Open, Jason
Torres in Pro Junior,
Nataly Bernold in Women,
in exception of the
longboard category that
was taken by the
Venezuelan Ronald Reyes.
Playa Jacó received the
best of Latin American
surfing to this weekend
to define, in the final
ALAS stage, the
champions of the 2007
Tour. Yesterday the
triumph of the entire
ALAS Tour was defined,
the Brazilian Ernesto
Nunes got the title and
the runners-up is the
Peruvian Sebastian
Alarcon. Nobody could
take the title for his
hands today.
Valeria Solé (PER), the
Latin American Women`s
Champion also had the
title secured since
Analí Gómez (PER) , the
only one who could maybe
removed her for the
title, didn`t travel to
Costa Rica. Likewise,
the Longboard Latin
American Champion is
Martín Pérez.
The awards ceremony will
be in January, in the
ALAS TOUR 2008 first
stop.
