The countdown for the
establishment of the
Ecuadorian Constituent
Assembly begins Tuesday,
after the official
announcement of the
candidates elected on
September 30.
The Assembly will begin
working on November 29,
and the protocol act
will be held the next
day, with the attendance
of Latin American chiefs
of State, Government
Minister Gustavo Larrea
affirmed Monday.
He pointed out the 130
Assembly members have
the mission of drawing
up the new Constitution,
which will return hope
to Ecuadorian citizens,
with free education and
health services.
A new history will begin
to be written from
November 29 on, and the
elected Assembly
members, mostly from the
ó Alianza Pais ó
Movement, have the
challenge of changing
the constitutional
framework, he stressed.
Former Minister Alberto
Acosta, the most voted
in the elections and
likely to chair the
Assembly, explained
there will be several
work groups including
people's participation,
structure of the State,
territorial
distribution,
biodiversity, natural
resources, production
and labor, justice,
anti-corruption,
sovereignty, and
