Solidarity Praised at
Havana Meeting
Over 500 delegates from
36 countries, attending
the 15th meeting for
Cooperation and
Solidarity of City
Councils with Havana,
rejected the increasing
US aggressiveness
against Cuba.
The participants
condemned the White
House policy and said
they will continue
supporting the Island in
its defense of
independence and
sovereignty.
At the official opening
session Thursday, Cuba's
Deputy Foreign Minister
Eumelio Caballero
thanked the people
present for their
friendship which, he
said, has allowed Cuba
to count on world
support in facing
Washington hostility.
Caballero described the
US Administration of
George W. Bush as the
most aggressive of all
faced by the Cuban
Revolution since 1959.
Vice President of the
Provincial Assembly of
the People's Power in
Havana City, Jorge Luis
de la Rosa, said these
meetings have become a
real international
tribune of support to
Cuba.

and for us to continue
demanding the
extradition of terrorist
Luis Posada Carriles to
Venezuela.
De la Rosa also
appreciated
international support
given to Cuba in
demanding the release of
The Five anti-terrorist
Cuban fighters held in
US prisons Gerardo
Hernandez, Ramon
Labanino, Antonio
Guerrero, Rene Gonzalez
and Fernando Gonzalez.
Governors, mayors,
deputy mayors and
council people attending
the meeting are touring
the 15 municipalities in
the Cuban capital.
This gathering precedes
celebrations for the
488th anniversary of the
foundation of the city
on November 16, 1519. |
